90. The Internet, as part of the information revolution, has significantly changed understanding of the situation of Palestine and Israel because news is no longer controlled by the mainstream media. For the first time people worldwide, and especially in the United States, have access to the Palestinian side of the story.

91. The principle of sovereignty has suffered strong blows ever since, particularly with the US invasion of Iraq, but also in Afghanistan and Haiti, among numerous examples.

92. That is, part of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

93. Jonathan Pollard was convicted in the United States of spying for Israel and received a life sentence in 1986. Since he received Israeli citizenship in 1988 there have been numerous attempts by Israel and its lobby in the United States to have him pardoned.

94. Israel does not always listen to direct US orders. In April, 2002, Bush told Sharon to pull back from its military invasion of the West Bank. Sharon ignored Bush, and less than two weeks later Bush received Sharon at the White House, hailing him as a "man of peace."

95. The Mecca Agreement defined the principles for the Palestinian Unity Government. It was decided in Mecca under the auspices of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

96. Formed when the United States refused to deal with the democratically elected Hamas government, the Palestinian Unity Government failed in June, 2007, due at least in part to US unwillingness to deal with Hamas on any level. Fatah regained control of the West Bank, and Hamas regained control of Gaza. In mid-October, 2007, Hamas asked for talks with Fatah prior to the USsponsored conference called for November, 2007.
