members of the Quartet (US, UN, EU, and Russia),
the Group of Eight nations, and representatives of
more than a dozen Arab countries. Conference marks
first time a two-state solution is articulated as the
mutually agreed-upon outline for addressing Israeli-
Palestinian conflict. Joint Understanding between
Israeli and Palestinian leaders to participate in ongo-ing negotiations with goal of signing peace agreement
by end of 2008 is endorsed
